  1. Listen to your needs. Do not dismiss your needs, large or small. We often minimize our needs to extend a hand to others, but that can only be maintained temporarily. We can not benefit others when we have nothing left to give. ” You can do everything, but you can not do everything well.”
  2. Focus on what is important to YOU. Every one of us has a different idea of “success”. To some, having several thriving relationships is success, while others focus on moving up the ladder or building a family. Focus on YOUR version of success and happiness, un-apologetically.
  3. Get proper rest. We would all like to believe we can pull all nighters and slam the extra shot venti’s the next day. It is only a matter of time before it will catch up with us. Running yourself thin, only creates a small barrier between you and…. you guessed it, ” BURN OUT MODE”. Rest, is essential, and the sooner we learn it, the better off we will be.
  4. Put down the electronics. We forget that even though we may be “zoned out” while surfing our iphones, tablets and lap tops, our minds are still actively working. Our minds, even the creative side, need a bed time, too. It is so challenging to step away from the demand of connection we seem to crave. Getting balanced mentally is essential to self care. A clear headed mindset to achieve our goals will allow us to be present in areas we truly care about.
  5. Stop the comparison, As women, we so often find ourselves trying to ” keep up with the jones.” Only now, in the generation of instagram, pinterest and facebook, we are not just keeping up with our neighbors, but people we’ve never meet, who have more than a nice picket fence to “keep up with”. The only thing we should be keeping up with, is the realistic mindset that social media is simply a highlight reel of peoples lives, and filtered, edited entertainment.
  6. Learn to say “NO” with grace. We often find ourselves wanting to be successful in every area of our lives, we say YES to too much and are run down in all of our “accounts” in our lives. Most successful people say NO to almost everything. We have to learn to say NO, with grace, and remember that by saying NO, we are actually say YES to the time investment of the MOST important things in our lives. Sometimes you have  to say NO to good things to say YES to the best things.
  7. Say yes to gym time. Gym time does not always have to be a super sweat sesh. Saying yes to time with yourself everyday is not about the weight or toned body at all. It is a date with yourself to care for your body. This may mean a walk in fresh air, or a long stretch and some “zone out” time in the spa or steam room. Leave room for yourself to just LOVE on your body AND mind. The gym does not always have to be about the scale. Keeping this commitment to your body will also encourage you to continue your commitment to proper rest. It is a win, win. We promise, you will not regret it.
  8. Turn off notifications. Just because their is the option to have them, does not mean we have to agree. Staying committed to your priorities and engagements takes focus and intentional time management. Our gadgets, are designed to KEEP us engaged. We would never accomplish much if we constantly had someone coming into our office saying ” Nice outfit, I like that, I like that, I like that too, I like that, I like that, I also like that, so cute. etc. Why do we allow it while we are trying to work? YOU have to remain in control of your responsibility to your talents and time. Taking back control over your thoughts will ultimately leave you feeling more satisfied and relaxed.
  9. Focus on nutrition. We hear this over and over and ALL of us know exactly what to do. Eat more plants! Our bodies are where our minds LIVE, where our main source of transportation is. Of course, we are not going to think our best when we do not get proper nutrients. When we are busy, it is the MOST important time to take even better care of ourselves. Do not underestimate good choices, one meal at a time.
  10. Edit your environment. Have you ever had a short conversation with someone that left you feeling down? Negativity can alter your mindset so fast, without even blinking. It can come in the form of music,( which can trigger an old memory), gossip, the weight of someone elses issues and so on. You have to be SMART about what is going on around you and what is being poured into your mind. Keeping your space negativity free will lead you to feeling more relaxed, more creative and more energized to pour into your purpose. Be apologetically picky about who and what you surround yourself with.
