You can have all the talent in the world, but it doesn’t do you any good if you don’t apply it.
Have you ever seen someone with so much talent, take it for granted? It is so hard to watch. We like to say focus on
building YOUR talent. There is a deeper reward for the person who works for it, rather than the one “gifted”. The person who works for it finds a deeper awareness and confidence in the struggle and triumph.
“Dreams don’t work unless you do.”
Well you can say that again. As Hines Ward says, (14 year NFL player) “DO THE DIRTY WORK.”
DO the work no one sees. The work no one is there to praise you for. Do the work, when all of your peers are sleeping. The work left when all other co-workers have left the building. Do the work, when your opponents leave the field. Stay, focus, and work HARDER. “Work hard in silence and let your success do the talking.” – Unknown.
“In those corners most people cut, is where success is found.”
In those corners is where “more than mediocrity” lives. Make those corners your goal. Make those corners your happy place. Ignore the nay-sayers, complainers, and pleasure seekers. Dive deep into your talents, purpose and drive.
Build your confidence in the areas you are naturally good at.
Just as if you are riding a bike, if you take your eyes off the road ahead of you, you are likely to crash.
You can’t focus on what is behind you, or even right next to you. The second you take your focus off the forefront, you lose balance. You lose focus and momentum. You lose your sense of direction and purpose. There will ALWAYS be competition. There is ALWAYS that someone who is just a little bit better than you are. Lets face it, those are the ones causing us the most grief. It is not the super human individual so far ahead he is out of reach. It is the ones right next to us, gaining those few feet each time. THOSE are where we lose our focus and intentional persistence.
Don’t let what is going on around you, rob you of your time, talents and treasure. Lean into the challenge, be diligent in your pursuit and keep your eyes ahead.
