Good Morning Elixirs

Rise and shine sleepy head! What better way to jump start your day than with a nice warm cup of joy. My morning routine is sacred to me, and it begins with one of these delicious morning elixirs. Each one of these drinks provides your body with immune boosting ingredients and prepares your digestive system for the day ahead. Shine on!

1. Rise and Shine

The Rise and Shine is my go-to morning tea. If I’m in a hurry (which is rare, because I cherish my morning routine), this tea saves the day. It takes only seconds to make and is the perfect way to wake up your digestive system and kick start your mind.

What you need:

  • Lemon
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Honey
  • Cayenne

Use a tea kettle or a pot to heat some water. Squeeze 1/2 of an organic lemon into your mug, then add 1 tsp ACV, 1 tsp raw honey, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. These immune boosting ingredients are known to help keep away pesky colds!

2. Ginger Goddess

The Ginger Goddess is my favorite morning elixir of all time. I love everything about it!

What you need:

  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Coconut Oil
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon

Turmeric, honey, and cinnamon all provide anti-inflammatory properties, while ginger soothes your system and helps your body absorb nutrients. And drinking coconut oil on a daily basis does wonders for your internal organs, your skin, and your waist line! For this morning tea, I use about one inch each of ginger and turmeric, peeled and chopped, 1 tbsp. coconut oil, 1 tsp. honey, and a pinch of cinnamon.

3. The Flu Buster

The Flu Buster is a winter must. I adopted this morning elixir recipe from my favorite vegan cafe in Seattle (Chaco Canyon) and I must say, this drink got me through many long winters. It is delicious and warming and chalked full of vitamin C.

What you need:

  • Apple
  • Orange
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Lemon
  • Cayenne

Run your apple, orange, garlic, ginger, and lemon through a juicer and then transfer to a pot to heat, or use a steamer. Sprinkle with cayenne and voila! Winter colds don’t stand a chance with this immune booting drink.

4. The Macaccino

I don’t know about you, but I find myself constantly trying to quit coffee. Its a never ending battle, really. But with this amazing alternative, I am able to reduce the amount of coffee I drink and replace it with delicious maca root!

What you need:

  • Milk of choice (I prefer hemp or coconut)
  • Macaccino Blend (picture below)
  • Agave (optional)

This Macaccino blend is delicious and provides a stable source of energy. When I drink this first thing in the morning, I can feel myself perk up instantly. It smells incredible, tastes delicious, and is sure to brighten your morning.

Enjoy!
